New publication - Chapter on Space Standards

A new chapter Regulating domestic dimensionality: space standards and the ‘art of right living’ by Ella Harris and Phil Hubbard features in the Research Handbook on Legal Geography, Sept 2026, edited by Alex Jeffrey, University of Cambridge, UK and Sarah Klosterkamp, Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany.

The chapter argues that the housing space norms embodied in national guidance reflect socio-technical assumptions not only about what space people need but what they deserve, with ideas about the space needed at different lifestages reflecting a host of moral assumptions about the ‘arts of right living’.
